Italy Gourmet Culinary Tour
Preparation and Presentation that is Pleasing to the Palate


REGISTER NOW for any of the upcoming Italy Gourmet tour dates (March - October 2005). Registration deadline is six weeks before the start of each tour.



Day 1 – Saturday (Frascati)
  • Arrive at Fiumincino Airport.
  • Meet with your Tour Director.
  • Transfer to our hotel for check in and relaxation.
  • Take a walking tour of Frascati.
  • Go to a local restaurant for a wonderful evening meal.
  • Return to the hotel for the evening.


Castel GandolfoDay 2 – Sunday (Castel Gandolfo)
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Spend more time exploring Frascati.
  • Meet with the tour guide who will lead us on a tour of a local villa and then onto a local farmhouse for wine and regional products tasting.
  • From there we head to the town of Castel Gandolfo, which is where the Pope's summer residence is located. Here we will have a terrific opportunity for a panoramic view of the beautiful lake and time to take plenty of pictures.
  • From there we travel to another farmhouse near the town of Marino for another wine and regional products tasting.
  • We return to Frascati in the early evening in time to take part in their monthly flea market activities.
  • We will then have the opportunity to enjoy another great meal at a local restaurant.
  • Return to the hotel for the evening.


Day 3 – Monday (Rome)
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Board our bus for a trip to the town of Otricoli to visit the Il Bacco d'Oro Restaurant. Here they will demonstrate how to make various types of bruschetta, carbonarra, fettucini del lo chef (a special dish from their chef), and the special way of making the cream filling for the cakes.
  • After working up an appetite we will have lunch and then board our bus for a trip to Rome.
  • Arriving at Rome, we will begin a walking tour which will include the Coliseum (both outside and inside), the Imperial Forum (Roman Forum), Venezia Square and Capitol Hill.
  • We will then transfer on a minibus to begin another walking tour to include the Trevi Fountain (of 3 Coins in a Fountain fame), the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. During our walking tour we will stop to take in the pleasure of Gelati (Italian ice cream).
  • We meet with the bus and return to Frascati for an evening meal.
  • Return to the hotel for the evening.


Day 4 – Tuesday (Anzio)
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Board the bus for a trip to Anzio.
  • Upon arrival we will enjoy a coffee break and then transfer to a restaurant specializing in seafood. There we will watch the cooks demonstrate how they prepare the seafood for cooking.
  • Later we will have lunch at the restauant.
  • After lunch we will meet with a local tour guide and visit the city. We will visit Nerone's Villa, the port (and its history regarding World War II) and then visit a medieval village.
  • We will cap off our Anzio visit with one of the local traditions of meeting the arrival of the ships after their day of fishing.
  • We return to Frascati for our evening meal.
  • Return to the hotel for the evening.


Villa Adriana in TivoliDay 5 – Wednesday (Tivoli)
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Board our bus for a journey to the magnificent city of Tivoli.
  • Upon our arrival we will have lunch at the Il Maniero Restaurant.
  • From there we visit the ruins of Hadrian's Villa (also known as Villa Adriana)
  • After our visit we will meet with the professor of the Instituto Italia and his staff. Professor Antonio Paradisa has been the director of the Culinary Institute for 36 years. Here we get to prepare our own meal for the evening. The specialty here will be the preparation of pappardelle pasta.
  • After cooking and then enjoying our delectable meal we will then proceed to the breathtaking sights of Villa d'Este before a very late return to the hotel


Saint Peter's Basilica and SquareDay 6 – Thursday (Rome)
  • Early breakfast at the hotel.
  • Board our bus for Rome and a visit to the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter's Basilica and Square.
  • We will have lunch in a nearby restaurant then have free time for shopping.
  • Later we board the bus for a short trip to Spagna (the Spanish Steps) for picture taking and more shopping.
  • We then board our bus for a return to Frascati for the evening meal.
  • Return to the hotel for the evening.


Day 7 – Friday (Velletri)
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Board the bus for our trip to the Agricultural Center near the quaint little town of Velletri.
  • At the Agricultural Center we will tour the grounds then watch demonstrations of cheese making, pasta making and ragu making.
  • We will have lunch there and have free time to further explore all the wonderful aspects of this unbelievable Agricultural Center.
  • At 4:00 p.m. we will get to don our aprons, hats and gloves in order to begin making pizzas cooked in a woodburning kiln oven.
  • After supper we board our bus for our return to Frascati.
  • Return to the hotel for the evening.


Day 8 – Saturday
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Transfer to Fiumincino Airport for your return home.
